About

Ash Ludd plays a mixture of a traditional folk music and his own songs. He sings and accompanies himself with 5-string banjo and a foot-operated suitcase percussion rig. Occasionally using acoustic guitar for songs where that sound is more suited. Growing up on an audio-diet of Anarcho-Punk and Metal, Ash finds common ground in the driving energy and themes of those styles with that of folk music and weaves influence from each genre together, resulting in his own original sound. He has been playing music in the street and in venues since the age of 16 and continues to this day, solo, as a duo with his buddy Dan Kemp and with the bands All In Vain and Dishlicker. Not one to settle anywhere for more than 6 months at a time he can be found playing all over the UK and across western Europe, in venues, squats, social centres, festivals, house parties and of course on the high street. Often hitch-hiking from town to town but always making it to gigs on time.
Ash has played at Bearded Theory Festival, Something-Else in the Dean, Amsterdam Anarcho-Folk Festival, and supported acts such as Lankum, Blackbird Raum and Cinder Well.
